A single bag is the smallest quantity we sell, and the most convenient way to try out a new brand. Fire Sticks Pellets are ENplus A1 certified Wood pellets made from 100% pure softwood, pressed from logs that have been completely stripped of bark.
Pressed without the bark – and you can really tell
What sets Fire Sticks apart is not what’s in the pellet, but what’s deliberately left out: the bark. The logs are completely debarked before being chipped and compressed. This is because the bark is the part of the tree that contains the most sand, minerals and impurities, and that is precisely the main source of ash and build-up in your fire pit.
The raw material is 100% pure softwood, mainly spruce, sourced from wood processing waste that would otherwise be discarded. No chemical additives, starch or binding agents are used: the pellets are held together by the lignin naturally present in the wood. The result is a clean, dry pellet that burns efficiently and leaves little residue.
How long does one bag of pellets last?
A pellet stove consumes roughly 1 to 2 kg per hour, depending on the setting, the output of your appliance and the insulation of your home. A 7 kW stove consumes around 1 kg every 45 minutes on the highest setting, meaning that one 15 kg bag will provide up to ten hours of powerful heating. At an average setting, this equates to a full day’s heating, or three to four evenings if you only use the stove in the evenings.
When do you buy pellets by the bag?
You’ll want to try out Fire Sticks in your own stove first before buying a pallet, as every stove reacts slightly differently to different types of pellets. It’s nearing the end of winter and you’ve still got a few days to get through. Or perhaps you only light a cosy fire one evening a week, in which case a whole pallet is simply too much. In all these cases, a single bag is the logical choice.
Storage and handling
A 15 kg bag can be lifted without help and will fit in a storeroom, a garage or under the stairs. Store the bags in a dry, well-ventilated place off the floor, for example on a shelf or an empty pallet. Pellets are compressed wood: if they absorb moisture, they will swell, crumble and block your stove’s feed mechanism. If a bag is torn, it is best to transfer the contents to a sealable bucket or barrel.
Per bag or per pallet?
You pay the highest price per kilo per bag – that’s just the way it is: each bag is handled separately. For half a winter’s supply or a smaller storage space, take a look at the Fire Sticks Pellets – half a pallet containing 33 bags. Why Fire Sticks Pellets
With just one bag, you can see straight away what matters: a uniform grain, very little dust at the bottom and a steady, constant flame. Because the bark is removed from the raw material, remarkably little ash is left behind and the firepot is less likely to become encrusted.
ENplus A1 is not merely a marketing term, but a standard that is subject to monitoring: it sets limits on ash content, moisture content, density and the amount of fine dust, and it requires the manufacturer to ensure traceability. For you, this is the simplest guarantee that what you put into your stove is actually what is stated on the bag.
