Briefly:

  • Pellet stove = ideal for those who want comfort, controllability and efficiency.

  • Wood stove = perfect for lovers of the traditional fireplace experience without power consumption.

Whether you need a chimney depends on the type of stove. Wood stoves Always require a chimney or flue for the removal of flue gases. Pellet stoves By contrast, they can often be drained horizontally or vertically via a smaller pipe, which is less invasive.

There are different types of fireplaces:

  • Built-in fireplaces: tightly integrated into the wall, ideal for built-in stoves.

  • Freestanding fireplaces: classic or modern, as an eye-catcher in the room.

  • Ornamental cloaks: decorative, often used around electric or bioethanol fires.

A good fireplace contributes not only to safety and draught, but also to the atmosphere in your home. Always get advice from a specialist for a tailor-made solution.

How much wood does a wood stove consume?
Many people wonder how much wood a wood stove consumes and what it means for their wallet.

Short answer:
An average wood stove consumes between 2 and 4 kg of wood per hour, depending on the power and settings.

With normal use (6-8 hours per day during the heating season), this equates to about 3 to 5 m³ of firewood per year.

👉 That means an average of 1-2 logs per hour, or half to a full wheelbarrow per week in winter, depending on usage and outdoor temperature.

Note: If you choose a wood stove with too few kW for the room, it will have to work harder and thus consume more wood.
