A single bag is the smallest quantity we sell, and the most convenient way to try out a new brand. Agricon Comfort Pellets are DINplus-certified pellets made from pure, bark-free heartwood, with 80% hardwood for longer burning times and a steady glow.
Why choose a mixed grain feed containing hardwood?
Agricon Comfort is a blended pellet, and that is a deliberate choice. The raw material is 100% pure heartwood without bark, comprising 80% hardwood and 20% softwood. Hardwood is denser and burns more slowly and evenly, whilst softwood ignites easily and keeps the flame lively. Together, they produce a gentle, steady glow with longer burning times than a pure softwood pellet.
As no bark is pressed into the product, the ash and dust content remains low, and no chemical additives or binders are used. The DINplus quality mark on the bag confirms that every batch meets these same requirements.
How long does one bag of pellets last?
A pellet stove consumes roughly 1 to 2 kg per hour, depending on the setting, the output of your appliance and the insulation of your home. One 14 kg bag therefore provides nearly a full day’s heating at an average setting, or three to four evenings if you only heat in the evenings. Furthermore, due to its high proportion of hardwood, Agricon Comfort burns more slowly, meaning you get slightly longer use out of the same amount.
14 kg instead of 15 kg: work out the price per kilo
Agricon packs its Comfort range in 14 kg bags. That extra kilo makes the bag lighter to lift and stack, but do bear this in mind when comparing prices: always calculate per kilo, not per bag. That way, you can make a fair comparison with brands that pack in 15 kg bags.
Storage and handling
A 14 kg bag can be lifted without help and will fit in a storeroom, a garage or under the stairs. Store the bags in a dry place and off the floor, for example on a shelf or an empty pallet. Pellets are compressed wood: if they absorb moisture, they will swell, crumble and block your stove’s feed mechanism. If a bag is torn, it is best to transfer the contents to a sealable bucket or barrel.
Per bag or per pallet?
You pay the highest price per kilo per bag – that’s just the way it is: each bag is handled separately.
