Description

My Premium Pellets, per 15 kg bag

A single bag is the smallest quantity we sell, and often the most convenient. You might buy a few when it gets colder than expected, try out a brand before ordering a pallet, or only use the stove occasionally and don’t want to keep a stock at home. My Premium Pellets are ENplus A1 certified softwood pellets with a high calorific value and a particularly low ash content.

How long does one bag of pellets last?

A pellet stove consumes roughly 1 to 2 kg per hour, depending on the setting you’re using, the output of your stove and how well your home is insulated. One 15 kg bag therefore provides enough fuel for about a full day’s heating at an average setting, or for three to four evenings if you only switch the stove on in the evenings. During the coldest weeks, most families use about one bag a day.

Do the maths for yourself: an 8 kW heater running at half power for four hours a day uses about 4 to 6 kg a day. One bag will therefore last two to three days. If that same heater runs all day long, one bag a day is a more realistic estimate.

When do you buy pellets by the bag?

There are three situations in which buying a single bag is the wisest option. You want to try out a brand in your own stove first before buying a pallet, as every stove reacts slightly differently to different types of pellets. It’s nearing the end of winter and you’ve got a few days left to get through without stocking up on a new supply. Or perhaps you only light a fire for cosiness one evening a week, in which case a pallet is simply too much.

Storage and handling

A 15 kg bag can be lifted without help and will fit in a storeroom, a garage or under the stairs. Store the bags in a dry place and off the floor, for example on a shelf or an empty pallet. Pellets are compressed sawdust: if they absorb moisture, they swell, crumble and block your stove’s feed screw. If a bag is torn, it’s best to transfer the contents to a sealable bucket or barrel.

What should you look out for when buying a bag of pellets?

Check the certification, the ash content and the amount of dust at the bottom of the bag. ENplus A1 specifies the maximum permitted levels of ash, moisture and fine particles, and you’ll notice the difference in your stove: less ash means less frequent cleaning and a window that stays clear for longer. A lot of dust at the bottom of a bag indicates that the pellets have broken up during transport, and that dust burns poorly.

Per bag or per pallet?

You pay the highest price per kilo per bag – that’s just the way it is: each bag is handled separately. If you’re heating for a full season, a pallet is always better value, and you’ll have the peace of mind that your stock is in place before winter begins. For half a winter or a smaller storage space, take a look at the My Premium Pellets half-pallet containing 33 bags. For a full heating season, the My Premium Pellets – a full pallet of 65 bags the best value for money per bag.

Why My Premium Pellets?

With just one bag, you can immediately see what matters: a uniform grain size, minimal dust at the bottom and a burn without sputtering. My Premium Pellets are ENplus A1-certified softwood pellets with a high calorific value and an exceptionally low ash content. If you’re unsure between two brands, buy a bag of each and check the amount of ash after a week’s burning.

ENplus A1 is not merely a marketing term, but a standard that is subject to monitoring: it sets limits on ash content, moisture content, density and the amount of fine dust, and it requires the manufacturer to ensure traceability. For you, this is the simplest guarantee that what you put into your stove is actually what is stated on the bag.
